A Specialist in cathodic protection of steel in soils, waters and concrete. Responsible for many large cathodic protection systems worldwide, including one of the largest pipeline systems in North Africa, some of the largest new build (impressed current and galvanic anode) and retrofit offshore structure CP systems in the North Sea and the Tasman Sea, many port and harbour cathodic protection systems for steel in sea water and steel in concrete including some of the largest schemes in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Currently working on a range of projects including the UK’s largest new build impressed current cathodic protection system for a reinforced concrete structure, a detailed investigation, survey and re-design of a major buried steel pipeline cathodic protection system, a series of new build and retrofit cathodic protection systems for ports and harbours to protect against ALWC/MIC and a retrofit reinforced concrete repair and protection project for a marine structure of considerable economic importance.
Expert in the design of both impressed current and galvanic (sacrificial) anode cathodic protection systems. Responsible for developments in the overline survey techniques for the assessment of buried pipeline coating quality and cathodic protection efficacy by combined recording CIPS and DCVG methods.
Entirely independent services to Owner/Operators, Consulting Engineers and Contractors.
Past President of the Institute of Corrosion, past Chairman of Corrosion Protection Association (CPA) and the CPA Technical Committee and UK delegated expert to various European Standard Committees responsible for the preparation of cathodic protection standards (BS ENs). Steering Group Member of the CIRIA Project RP693 which produced the CIRIA Guidance C634 “Management of Accelerated Low Water Corrosion in Steel Maritime Structures”, published in 2005.
