Fairhurst Ward Abbotts Ltd has been established since 1937 and was first registered on 30 August 1941. During the whole of that time the company has specialised in commercial and industrial painting and decorating, together with minor repairs and small to medium-sized refurbishment contracts for Government Departments, Utilities, Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Health Authorities and NHS Trusts and leading National and International commercial undertakings.
The total value of work carried out since formation exceeds the sum of £170,000,000 (one hundred and seventy million pounds). Although not the largest contractor in their field, FWA is recognised in the trade as being consistently one of the most successful.
Throughout the company’s history, quality has been of paramount importance and this has been recognised by the receipt of several National awards, Quality Standard BS EN ISO) 9001, Investors in People accreditation and Her Majesty the Queen’s Royal Warrant of Appointment. In May 2002 the company was awarded RoSPA’s Gold Award for Occupational Safety.
Recent contracts have included work at Buckingham Palace,The National Gallery, The Science Museum, Glaxo Smithkline, The Thames Barrier, Prudential Assurance, Chelsea Barracks, The National Maritime Museum, Hampton Court Palace and many individual contracts for Housing Associations and Local Authorities (including the Corporation of London).
Over the past 12 years there has been a significant increase in trading levels owing to the policy of accepting more Maintenance Term Contractors (all trades), a market sector in which the company now specialises. Additionally, FWA was awarded its first full long-term partnering contract in April 2004.
Contracts are organised from the Head Office near Dartford, Kent. Other offices are located at Lambeth and also within Buckingham Palace, The National Gallery, The Science Museum and Hampton Court Palace.
At any given time, work is being undertaken at over 100 different establishments in Greater London and the Home Counties and we are confident that this long and varied experience will be of great benefit to all clients, both new and existing.
