A Memorandum of Understanding and Reciprocity agreement was signed between NACE
International and ICorr in 1994
A primary benefit from this relationship is the reciprocity
regarding FICorr/NACE Corrosion Specialist and MICorr/Senior Corrosion
Technologist qualifications which members in good standing of both bodies and
at the appropriate professional level can directly apply for without further
professional assessment.
The reciprocal NACE qualifications can be invaluable to
corrosion engineers wishing to practice in the USA and Middle East. Contact: Dr W M Cox

A special membership agreement exists with the Steel
Structures Painting Council (SSPC) based in the USA. This currently
includes an annual membership fee of just £10 to ICorr members which in turn
gives subscription to the SSPC's excellent Journal of Protective Coatings
and Linings. Contact:D Deacon

The Institute is a full member of the European Federation
of Corrosion (EFC). The EFC has traditionally functioned as a technical
umbrella under which corrosion societies across Europe can meet and work
together. With the increased importance and influence of the European Community
the EFC is now significantly gearing-up its technical activities through its
Working Parties.
These EFC Working Parties are giving priority to the move
towards international standards, initially to European Community (CEN)
standards and eventually to international (ISO) standards.
There are 16 working parties:
Corrosion
and Scale Inhibition (WP1),
Corrosion
by Hot Gases and Corrosion Products (WP3),
Nuclear
Corrosion (WP4),
Environment
Sensitive Fracture (WP5),
Surface
Science and Mechanisms of Corrosion and Protection (WP6),
Corrosion
Education (WP7),
Physico-Chemical
Methods of Corrosion Testing (WP8),
Marine
Corrosion (WP9),
Microbial
Corrosion (WP10),
Corrosion
of Reinforcement in Concrete (WP11),
Computer
Based Information Systems (WP12),
Corrosion
in Oil and Gas Production (WP13),
Coatings
(WP 14),
Corrosion
protection in the Refinery Industry (WP15),
Cathodic
protection (WP 16),
Automotive
Corrosion (WP 17)
The UK provide a delegate to each of these working parties
If you would be interested in becoming a delegate please contact Paul McIntyre Contact:P McIntyre tel: 0207 451 7336
The Institute has an active policy of collaboration with
other professional bodies in the organisation of conferences, meetings etc.
In the case of the Institute of Materials, there is an
ICorr/IoM
jointly funded Corrosion Coordination Committee (superseding the
National Council of Corrosion Societies), and the ICorr has a co-opted seat on
the IoM
Council.
The following
directory is a list of research groups in the UK carrying out corrosion-related
research. If you would like to add your details, or modify your
current entry please email corrosion@swan.ac.uk providing your contact
details and brief details of your research areas.
