In the first article published in the last edition of Corrosion Management I described the basic structure and activities of the Institute. I concentrated on the Branch Committees and their planned meetings. As always the diary page at the back of this Journal provides updated details of these and other ICorr related events.
The Professional Development Committee (PDC) and the Professional Assessment Committee (PAC) are two of the main standing Committees that can be considered as the pillars of the Institute. Their work is crucial to the Professional Status and growth of both the Institute and each and every member. We are very fortunate to have two groups of very capable and highly respected experts committed to the work of these Committees and who like so many that support the Institute, they give graciously of their time. I think that that there is no-one better than the Chairman to describe the purpose and activities of their Committees and so I have persuaded Ken Tiller and David Harvey to do just this for PDC and PAC respectively.
I
would welcome any comments or suggestions regarding this series of article or
concerning the Institute in general. Any member who has not recently attended a
Branch Meeting is likely to be most surprised at how enjoyable, worthwhile and
supported these evenings have become. They will also be assured of a very warm
welcome.
