•To bring a younger image to ICorr
•Increasing young membership by developing awareness of ICorr by mail drops, newsletters
•To make sure that students working in the corrosion area are aware of the events organised by ICorr
•Organise more student orientated meetings
•Build a network of young corrosion scientists and engineers within academia and industry.
•Young ICorr is now the official national student branch of ICorr with a budget for promoting younger members' interests.

Chairman

Mr C Padovani
University of Bath

My name is Cristiano Padovani, I'm from Italy and I'm doing a PhD at the University of Birmingham.I'm in my second year and I'm working with Friction Stri Welding of aluminium alloys. My researchs aims at the use of the Laser Surface Melting technique as a suitable technology to protect the welds from corrosion. I joined the Young ICorr committee a few months after the start of my project, I'm enjoying this experience and look forward to meeting and interacting with students like me.

Secretary

Mr Anthony Setiadi
The University of Sheffield

Hi! My name is Anthony Setiadi, having completed my degree in Materials Science at Sheffield University I am now doing my PhD also at Sheffield University in the 'corrosion of metals in composite cements' my work concentrates on magnesium and aluminium to see how these metals behave in cement .

Farkhanda Kauser
The University of Birmingham

Hi I'm Farkhanda Kauser! I completed my undergraduate degree in Applied and Human Biology at Aston University; I decided for a change and moved to the Department of Metallurgy and Materials at The University of Birmingham. I completed an MRes here and am currently in my third year of a PhD looking at the Corrosion of CoCrMo alloys used for prosthetics.

I am now working as a postdoctoral researcher at Osaka University under the JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) fellowship. My research is concerned on the corrosion of biomedical implant metals. Young ICorr has given me ample opportunities to meet and share experience with people in the same field. I strongly encourage students and young professionals in the field of corrosion to take part in Young ICorr. I am enjoying my stay and work in Japan; it really has a lot to offer in almost all aspects. In addition to the postdoctoral fellowship, JSPS also offer a summer program (a few months) for research students. Check this out if you think you would like to spend some time in Japan: http://www.jsps.go.jp/english/index.html .

Divisions

The ICorr has three Divisions:

Corrosion Science Division
runs a successful annual conference in September targeted at up and coming research work with a strong student involvement. The CSD also continues to run a successful programme of specifically focused one and two day meetings throughout the year.
