News
Dear Sustaining Members
Firstly, a big'thank you' to those Sustaining Members who have got our first themed issue on Coating Applicators off to a flying start and I am sure our members will be interested in reading about the various projects you have undertaken. I know many of you were on holiday and unable to contribute but hopefully you will be on board next time round.

The next Sustaining Member theme will be for Suppliers and i will be writing to all of you within that category shortly with details of what is required.

In the last issue I mentioned the UK Corrosion Conference being held at Sheffield Hallam University this year and I am hoping that many of you will now have had time to consider attending this event and taking an exhibition space. All details and costs were included in the centre pages of our May/June issue and I will be contacting you shortly to try and gather support for this event.

It has come to my attention that many of you are unaware that as Sustaining Members you are eligible to use the ICorr logo on your marketing documentation/ website etc. If you are currently not displaying this and would like me to forward an electronic version, please either call me at the office or email me on admin@icorr.org

Finally, are there any of you who could help one of our Sustaining Members, Duncan MacLean of RHINOCEROS Ltd who would like to speak to someone dealing in nano coating, if so, can you please give him a call on 0208 444 6165.

In closing, and for the second issue running, I must apologise to our new Sustaining Members who were not named in the last issue. A last minute opportunity for the publishers to sell an advertisement space unfortunately took precedence but I have been assured you will definitely be mentioned in this issue! As always, if any of you have any matters you would like me to look into on your behalf, please give me a call.
Best wishes
Heather

In the last issue, I told you about the new themed section we will be running for Sustaining Members and by now you should all have received a letter and schedule from me. Please put this schedule in a prominent position so you can make yourself familiar with the date of the issue, which be covering your category and allow yourself plenty of time to decide on the project you wish to have publicised. I will write to you again prior to your category coming up and will be available to answer any questions you may have. The next issue will be the first of our themed sections covering Coating Applicators and Training, so to all of you within this sector please get thinking.

As you are aware, UK Corrosion 2007 is not far off and I hope many of you will consider supporting this event by taking an exhibition stand over the three days. It will give you a great opportunity to talk to other people in the industry and market your business, whilst at the same time being eligible to attend the ICorr banquet. For further information on availability, costs and stand sizes please contact me and I will put you in touch with the Conference Organisers. Additional information can be obtained on the ICorr website.

Finally, I apologise that new Sustaining Members were not listed in the last issue but they have been included along with those on page 5. Welcome to you all and as always, Council hopes you will have a long and beneficial association with the Institute. Best wishes,

In this, the last issue of Corrosion Management for 2007,1 must say an enormous 'thank you' to all the Sustaining Members who submitted articles for the Cathodic Protection feature. I hope you agree that their contributions have provided a really useful and informative insight into the work undertaken by this sector of the industry.

The first issue of 2008 will feature Consultants Testing and Inspection and whilst there are fewer Sustaining Members in this category, I am looking forward to receiving some extremely interesting case studies. The deadline for editorial is 12th January so plenty of time to get over the holiday period and be back in work mode again!

Welcome to SciSite our latest Sustaining Member. I met Professor Haycock at UK Corrosion and am delighted that he proceeded with his application to become a member.

Finally, just in case any of you find you have spare time on your hands during the Christmas break, please check your entries in Corrosion Management and on the website and let me know of any changes. On a moaning note, there are a few of you that have still not paid your membership fees and I would really appreciate it if you could give this matter your urgent attention.

For now, my personal thanks to you all for the co-operation I have received this year in getting our themed issues up and running and I look forward to working with you all again in the New Year.

With Best Wishes for a very Merry Christmas and extremely prosperous New Year.

Welcome to the first issue of the New Year and I hope you are all going to continue to take advantage of your Sustaining Membership benefits. Last year we managed to get our themed features up and running and I hope you will continue to support this initiative throughout the coming year.

We kick off 2008 by featuring Consultants, Testing and Inspection, featured on pages 9-12. Thank you to those companies who contributed and I am sure you will all find their articles useful and informative. This leads me on to the Mar/Apr feature, which is open to all Sustaining Members and called "Women in our Industry". Now I know there is not a male chauvinist amongst you so I am looking forward to hearing about women achievers within your organisation. This can be at any level, from the lady responsible for the smooth running of your business, to someone who has gone on to make a career within the Corrosion Industry. Brenda Peters, our President, is a fine example of the opportunities open to women who wish to progress in this field. I am hoping this will be our biggest feature yet so please acknowledge the vital role women play within your organisation.

January is always a fairly quiet month but I am delighted to welcome six new Sustaining Members. However, sadly, I have also had to cancel some memberships due to non-payment of fees. I will not name these companies as it is their choice but the Trustees would like to thank them for their past support. Best wishes
