ICorr Midland Branch Meeting

Tuesday 18th May 2010 - 18.00 to 20.30 hrs
Nottingham Univeristy - ITRC Building - Building No 38 - Room CO8

GENERAL

We have decided to try two presentations, 1 academic and 1 practical to try and offer a more broad spectrum on “Goings On” to the audience. In addition, by popular demand time has been put aside for an Open Forum activity, whereby anyone in the audience requiring advice/guide to a problem in corrosion (or related), can then raise and discuss the issue. Don’t be shy, also no litigation here, just friendly hints. If need is to take it further, I am sure a one to one discussion can be arranged after meeting closes. Note, Timings on Agenda are flexible.

DIRECTIONS

The ITRC building is building 38 on the attached map, located in the bottom right corner of the campus, best accessed via the south entrance. The meeting will be in C08, on the top floor of the building – the building has card access, assistance to get into the building will be on hand.

Driving: from the M1 take Jn 25 and follow the A52 into Nottingham, after a few miles and having gone over 2 roundabouts you will be in a more residential area. At the next roundabout turn right (signposted university) follow the road along DON’T TURN INTO THE WEST ENTRANCE but go straight over the first small roundabout, left at the 2nd and go along university boulevard to the south entrance – this is a left turn at a junction with traffic lights. Then turn right onto science road and find a parking space.

Train: from Nottingham station one option is to get a taxi to the university south entrance, alternatively there are lots of buses which take about 15mins to get to the university. To get a bus you need to exit the station through the main entrance, this means you need to go up the stairs at the end of the platform, not the stairs up to the bridge halfway along. Exit the station and turn right so you are now walking away from the train lines, the broadmarsh bus station is at the end of the road. Buses 4 and 5 will take you to the QMC (Queen’s Medical Centre), shown on the attached map -  get off at the QMC stop on Derby Rd before the roundabout, it is then approx 5 mins walk to the ITRC.
