Leighton Buzzard Admin Team is Re-organised and Strengthened

Gill, Cerri and Denise taken in the new office at the end of a long year.

The new President, Paul Lambert made it clear at the acceptance of his office, that he would not be able to be involved in the day to day running of the Institute’s administration and required the admin team to be pro-active and provide, not only a fast response service to the membership, but also to clients and the public.

The past year has seen a change of the offices and the relocation to the new premises in Leighton Buzzard High Street and the inevitable disruption to services that relocation can involve.

Gill Inwood, as Office Manager and Cerri Begley (nee Sweet) have continued their specific roles for both the Institute and its subsidiary, Correx Ltd and with the retirement of Heather, who ran the sustaining membership on a part-time basis, we have now appointed Denise Aldous on a full time basis, to provide a service to the sustaining membership, which the size of this section of the Institute’s membership deserves.  Sustaining Member representatives and companies can now receive information and answers to queries on a full time basis from the new co-coordinator, Denise.

In addition to the administration of ICorr and Correx, Correx have also been running a series of courses for Engineers and Specifiers and these have been organized and administered by Katie and Janice. Gill Inwood who is the admin team Office Manager has continued to handle the finances for both the Institute and Correx and has liaised with Tony Collins, the Honorary Treasurer and Finance Director and has also provided the link with the new accountants, Hickeson Boyce.

Cerri Begley has continued on general ICorr administration matters and is closely involved with the individual membership services for the Institute and also for the rapidly increasing ICATS membership for Correx Ltd.

Denise Aldous, who has joined the team within the last year, since our move to the new offices has taken over the role of Sustaining Membership Coordinator and is the contact point for all of the Sustaining Members from the Leighton Buzzard office.

In addition to the sustaining membership, Denise has also been very supportive to Nick Smart, in the setting up and the re-launching of the Corrosion Engineering Division and was actively involved at the first of the CED workshops, which was held last year at Birmingham University.

Denise will also be increasingly involved with the Correx 2009 Conference and Workshops, which will be held in conjunction with the Correx Exhibition at the Birmingham NEC on the 27th /28th / 29th October 2009.

Katie and Janice have been responsible for the publicity and administration of the Correx courses, 6 of which were held through 2008, at various locations across the country and over 200 Engineers and Specifiers attended these events, which not only gave the delegates an insight into the basics of corrosion control by coatings, but also into the valuable role that the ICATS qualification is providing for the industry.
