SUMMARY:London Branch Virtual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:About the Talk \nThis talk will present the basic function of solid-state DC decouplers used in conjunction with cathodic protection (CP) systems and their common pipeline applications\, including AC Mitigation and isolation joint protection. \nIn addition\, this talk will review some of the challenges often encountered with obtaining accurate CP potentials on protected structures during interrupted surveys. Capacitors\, which are essential components of decouplers used with AC mitigation systems\, can in some situations influence instant-off measurements and lead the operator toward incorrect conclusions. This talk will explain the influence of capacitance on instant-off measurement response\, illustrate the behaviour using several field installation examples and offer techniques to overcome the capacitive effects during interrupted surveys. \nAbout the Speaker \nJay Warner is the Manager for International Business Development at Dairyland Electrical Industries. He works to promote technical awareness of isolation and grounding issues for cathodically protected systems and helps customers apply Dairyland’s solid-state decoupler technology to corrosion protection systems within the energy\, utility\, marine and rail industries. Prior to his current role\, Jay served as the Engineering Manager at Dairyland. \nJay graduated from Purdue University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and has a background in control systems across a variety of industries including automotive\, heavy duty trucks and power generation. He has been an active member of NACE for over 5 years.\nJay enjoys hiking\, backwoods camping\, biking and pretty much anything outdoors. \nClick to join the meeting : \nhttps://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_MTAyNTg5M2QtZjI2My00MzNkLWFhNzctNmI4MjI0ZDZhNmNl%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22795cece7-edb1-4aee-b1ad-76523c179e21%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22e252c6f9-836b-4d8e-9b21-ab9b023534fb%22%7d
