SUMMARY:Aberdeen Branch Event - Joint Meeting with IOM3/MIS
DESCRIPTION:Date: 24/11/2020 \nEvent Type: Joint Meeting with IOM3/MIS \nSpeaker: Professor Debra Carr – Defence and Security Accelerator. DASA Scotland Innovation Partner. \nTopic: Body armour: why\, how and what (from)? : A provocative presentation to get you thinking “out of the box”: An excellent opportunity to hear from a Materials Technology Expert\, from out with our own Industry. Advanced body armour is not just relevant for military people and we should consider its’ deployment in partnership with ROV’s or Inspection Tasks / NII and all types of Surveillance Drones\, so that we can operate in more effectively in hostile and production sensitive environments? Materials used for body armour have recently been re-purposed as Blast protection sheets and are already being used on the Drill floor to allow High pressure testing of Drilling well control equipment to take place concurrent with other operations thereby saving significant time and money – could this approach be applied elsewhere? Are there more tasks where personnel could be using modified body armour? \nTime: 18:00: Finish* at 19:30 \nThis Webinar Event is Free and Open to all ICorr/IOM3/MIS Members / Non – Members. Please register now for Event by email\, stating Member / Non Member to: amirattarchi@gmail.com

SUMMARY:LBBC Baskerville - Webinar 2 - Corrosion Testing in Extreme Environments
DESCRIPTION:24 September 2020 1pm\nContact: d.burkle@lbbcbaskerville.co.uk or k.oliver@lbbc.co.uk\nRegistration: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_75-VLd3-T–nY5UPBtzE8Q \nTopic: From Lab to Field; Corrosion Testing in the 21st Century \nThank you for registering and joining us for LBBC Baskerville’s Webinar Series\, welcome to our second webinar. \nThe presence of corrosive gases (CO2 and H2S) in many applications\, coupled with the shift towards more demanding and ever increasing extreme conditions along with the commercial pressures to increase production rates to meet energy demands creates a number of challenges for companies to maintain the integrity of exposed equipment. The ultimate goal for many industries involved with providing energy sources or water treatment services is to maximise production and services with improved process safety. Testing and measurement technologies and systems that will enable accuracy\, repeatability and reliability are vital to meet the growing challenges in these sectors. The key to the success of any corrosion testing programme is that the conditions must closely match those seen in the field. \nWith this focus\, LBBC Baskerville and the University of Leeds have united in recent years to develop and improve products for corrosion testing in such demanding environments. \nIn this webinar\, Dr Danny Burkle and Dr Richard Barker will discuss the key challenges in harsh operating environments\, current and future needs in tools\, technologies and methods\, and how new products can be developed to enable innovation. \nTopics covered: \n1) Field-Relevant Laboratory Corrosion Testing – Challenges and Motivation \n2) Corrosion Testing Relevant Standards \n3) Needs\, Challenges and Opportunities for Corrosion Testing Developments \nSpeaker profiles: \nDr Danny Burkle (Host): https://lbbcbaskerville.com/about-us/our-people/ \nDr Richard Barker (Chair): https://eps.leeds.ac.uk/mechanical-engineering/staff/501/dr-richard-barker \nPlease contact us to find out more information on the webinar series or if you want to find out more about what we do. Or if you want to chat to Danny about anything related to autoclaves\, corrosion or materials then please get in touch.

SUMMARY:Complying with the New Standard of Corrosion Protection
DESCRIPTION:Join Knovel for the webinar\, Complying with the New Standard of Corrosion Protection\, to learn about significant changes to the MIL-STD-889 covering dissimilar metals and galvanic corrosion.  In this webinar\, foremost corrosion expert Alan Rose explains the latest findings which show that galvanic corrosion is best determined by galvanic current between materials\, not by potential difference.   He will also review key changes in the dissimilar metals and galvanic corrosion standard (MIL-STD-889C)\, currently in development.  Learn how to comply with the new standards of corrosion protection.    Tuesday\, July 21\, 10 am 3pm.   https://bit.ly/3j3VGxy
