This is an opportunity to learn about the work of Axess Corrosion and to evaluate innovations relating to the safety of intrusive corrosion monitoring devices. Wherever possible we have ensured that we have a very low impact on work procedures\, but a significant impact on risk assessment. The purpose is to grow user confidence in intrusive monitoring so that the benefits of integrated systems can be realized. We’ll first look at some examples of incidents ranging in severity from loss of containment to fatality and the look at the design changes that can provide new layers of protection and prevent reoccurrence. The specific products covered include retrieval equipment for monitoring devices changeouts under pressure as well as the access fittings that house the devices. We’ll present the benefits achieved from major operators across the globe and the impact on intrusive internal monitoring campaigns. User feedback and references will be presented along with details of pilot projects from an Operational Viewpoint. DESCRIPTION:Speaker name: Brian Bennett\nPresentation title:  Development of Multifunctional Corrosion Inhibitor Products Used for Cleaning Produced Water Systems \nOil and gas produced water handling systems can be prone to fouling. Fouling can occur from incomplete separation resulting in hydrocarbon carrying through to the water handling infrastructure. Other particulates can also carry through or form due to the changing conditions as the fluids and gas are processed. As the fluids cool and acid gases are flashed off increased scaling tendencies and iron sulphide formation can occur. The hydrocarbon can act like a glue that helps to bind the other particulates together and deposit on the pipe surfaces. Deposition also creates areas for bacteria to proliferate. Corrosion mechanisms change from those created by the acid gases dissolved in the water to under-deposit or microbiologically influenced corrosion when heavy fouling occurs. \nThis presentation outlines the laboratory work undertaken to develop a chemical solution for oilfield cleaning of hydrocarbon\, iron sulphide and calcium carbonate scale deposition while maintaining a product compatible with mild steel such that it could be stored or applied in carbon steel infrastructure. In addition to the development work it will highlight the application of the product in the field in a salt water processing facility experiencing deposition issues. \nBiography: Brian Bennett began working in the oil and gas chemicals sector in research and development 15 years ago developing corrosion inhibitors and biocides in addition to corrosion inhibitor and microbiological test methods. DESCRIPTION:The next Fundamentals of Corrosion course is presented by the Institute of Corrosion.  The course will be based on practical information and hands-on examples as well as relevant background theory. DESCRIPTION:Zoom Event – Registration for this Event will be emailed from ICorr HQ nearer the time. \nCompany: Virtuosity   \nPresenter: Kevin McDonald \nEffective Pipework analysis and inspection planning using Digital Twins \nIntegrity of pipework is essential for safe and reliable operation of process plants. Inspections are traditionally performed at large numbers of individual test points with results recorded in an inspection database. In general\, this data is subject to relatively simple analysis with the results used in integrity management decisions. However\, this traditional approach can be heavily influenced by poor processes\, outliers or errors for example; incorrect entry of results\, not recording higher thickness readings than those obtained previously\, and inconsistencies in inspection location are some examples of how error can be introduced into this process. This could lead to poor integrity decisions. Analysis of pipework data\, which is in general restricted to the difference between two thickness readings relative to the dates the readings were taken\, can then be driven by measurement error. \nA novel alternative is to consider historic datasets as a whole and look at long-term statistical behaviour to consider how corrosion could be affecting pipework. This approach looks at whole datasets to determine behaviour before considering any sub-groupings of data points that are showing similar behaviour. For example\, straight sections of vertical pipework may be showing higher evidence of corrosion than other feature types. Considering sub-groupings of features within a pipework circuit has several benefits: a more representative statistical corrosion rate can be calculated per sub-group that will yield better insight into corrosion behaviour\, an illustration of points that could have been over inspected or under inspected\, and information on features that may be of concern on other circuits. This methodology can deliver more efficient and targeted inspections\, which represents significant cost savings in the form of lower inspection costs\, and better planning of when repair or replacement may be necessary. \nThis approach is underpinned by simple and effective access to the data\, which is linked to a 3D mini digital twin. The mini-Twin also hosts a variety of data\, as well as individual test points\, corrosion maps\, can house inspection histories\, photographs\, and further data analysis or corrosion rates\, fitness for service etc. The 3D is used to present data in efficient ways to quickly provide an overview of the health of the pipework circuit\, for example inspection frequency\, inspection count\, corrosion rates\, all of which is valuable information for engineers and asset stakeholders.

DESCRIPTION:As a close to our 2022-23 season come and join the ICorr London Branch for a canal trip\, sponsored by International Paints\, from Paddington to Camden via Little Venice and return. Join your peers for networking and fun while we wind our way slowly through London. \nThe Route \nStarting at the pick up point in Paddington we will cruise to Little Venice before heading to Camden taking in many varied views along the canal. \nAs we pass through the grounds of London Zoo\, look out for the African wild hunting dogs known as painted wolves\, the pack can often be seen as we pass their canal-side enclosure\, as well as their neighbours the African warthogs. On the opposite side\, you can see the newly reimagined imposing structure of Monkey Valley featuring black and white Colobus monkeys. You can see expansive landscaped gardens of stately mansion houses and classic modern villas contrasted with industrial buildings\, a power station and historical architecture including ornamental iron bridges such as the pillared Macclesfield ‘blow up’ bridge. \nFrom modern-day urban graffiti\, unique architecture\, and industrial heritage to landscaped gardens and wildlife\, the route gives an insight into the unique mix that forms this part of London. \nThe details  \nThe pick-up point for the trip is :- Merchants Square\,\nPaddington Post Code:- W2 1AS. \nWe sail at 18:00 hours so please arrive between 17:45 and 18:00. DESCRIPTION:Date:  Wednesday 28 June 2023\nTime: 12.30 (lunch) – 16:00\nLocation:  Sherwin Williams\, Tower Works Kestor Street\, Bolton BL2 2AL \nSherwin Williams Paint Facility 1:00–3:00pm (12:30 for lunch) \nSherwin Williams have kindly offered a tour of their facility at Bolton.  Lunch will be provided at 12:30\, with the factory tour to follow.   We would request that people attending the factory tour please bring their own PPE\, if they have it.  Mandatory PPE is safety glasses\, sensible footwear (safety shoes/boots preferred but not essential for non-working visitors)\, bump-cap or safety helmet and some form of hi-visibility jacket.  If you do not have the appropriate PPE please state this in accepting the invite and we will endeavour to provide some. AI can process a large number of photos quickly and objectively thus eliminating the human centric risk of missing critical areas.\nUsing an AI model cleverly embedded in a code allows us to derive from the findings and send these actionable insights to ship owners thus enabling better data driven decisions. The findings are also used by ship owners to estimate the resources needed.\nThe mobile app allows ship’s crew to upload photos effortlessly even in offline mode\, thus saving hours of crew time. Shore based managers do not need to go through lengthy reports to figure out how their asset is being maintained as the app provides a historic repository of data and AI tells them where to look. \nAbout the speaker:\nLeroy is a life-long learner who is always willing to explore. Worked for over 20+ years in the corrosion and coatings industry with a paint contractor and a paint manufacturer\, and then founded a start-up known as SteelCorr in Dubai.
