SUMMARY:London Branch Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The President’s Talk \nAs President Bill will provide an update on the current state of the Institute\, key activities and the benefits of membership. \nDr. Bill Hedges \nBill is an independent corrosion consultant and the President of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr).  He has a B.Sc. in chemistry and a Ph.D. in electrochemistry (lithium batteries) from the University of Southampton\, UK and spent time as a researcher in the Bioengineering department at Oxford University\, UK. \nBill has 34 years’ experience in corrosion science\, integrity management and engineering and has spent the last 30 years in the oil & gas industry working for Exxon and BP.  He was with BP for 24 years and left in 2020 to form his own consultancy business.  His final role was as the Chief Engineer for Materials and Integrity Management.  He has spent half of his career working in central engineering functions and half in operational locations in many countries worldwide with specific assignments in London\, Houston\, Trinidad and Alaska.  These assignments have given him practical experience of integrity issues in onshore\, offshore\, deep-water\, tropical\, desert and arctic environments. \nBill is a Chartered Engineer (CEng.)\, Chartered Chemist (CChem) and a Fellow of both the Institute of Corrosion (FICorr) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).  He has held director roles with the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Foundation and the NACE Europe board.  He has published 38 papers and in 2009 was awarded the NACE Fellow honour (FNACE). \nClick to join the meeting \nhttps://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_ODBmZmEyZmEtYWZjMS00YTg5LTliODUtOWI3Y2EzNTAzMGY0%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22795cece7-edb1-4aee-b1ad-76523c179e21%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22e252c6f9-836b-4d8e-9b21-ab9b023534fb%22%7d

SUMMARY:Aberdeen Branch Event - ICorr Technical Event
DESCRIPTION:Date: 30/03/2021 \nEvent Type: ICorr Technical Event \nSpeaker: Dr George Sergi – VECTOR. Galvanic Corrosion Control of Reinforced Concrete: \nTopic: Galvanic Corrosion / CP Control of Reinforced Concrete; Lessons learnt from 20 years of Site Trials. Sacrificial anodes have been used in reinforced concrete structures for up to 20 years. This presentation reviews the performance of the oldest set of anodes used in enhanced patch repairs where anodes were placed at the periphery of the patch at around 600 mm spacing on centre. It demonstrates\, from results of current output and steel de-polarisation levels that the repair system is still functioning adequately. These prototype anodes\, designed for a 10-year life\, have continued to deliver a reduced but significant current complying with currently accepted criteria. The overall reduction in current was found to be adequately described by an ‘anode aging’ model where the current delivered is halved over constant time intervals\, enabling determination of an ‘aging-factor’. \nTime: 18:00: Finish* at 19:30 \nLocation: Webinar: Login Details will be provided following Pre-registration (as attached Flyer). This Webinar Event is Free and Open to all ICorr Members / Non – Members. \nFor registration: Please contact amirattarchi@gmail.com\n – Giving your Full Name and Stating – ICorr Member or Non- Member
